Jenn Air Cooktop Review

As with all products, all manufacturers, and all reviews, Jenn Air cooktop reviews vary widely between raving enthusiasm and furious negativity. Always read them with a grain of salt. Or a teaspoon of sugar.

Jenn Air cooktops are praised for their sleek design, convenient burner layout, and easy clean up. The Jenn Air gas cooktop allows you to cook on varying flame levels, as well. For cooking lovers, these attributes hold serious weight. Jenn Air cooktop knobs are also spread out neatly for easy ignition. Problems seem to be more serious with the Jenn Air electric cooktop, where burners repeatedly stop working or heat unevenly. The truth is, that cooking on an electric cooktop is very different than any gas burner. Jenn Air electric cooktops take getting used to, like any other brand would. If you’re used to cooking on gas, you’ll probably be better off investing in Jenn Air gas cooktops. It’s too much money to make that mistake.

The most complete version is the Jenn Air downdraft cooktop. A downdraft assists in venting out smoke and odors as you cook. Since the flat stove of a cooktop does not come with any vent or hood, the downdraft provides a circuitous route, piping the odors out of the house. Not as efficient as a hood exhaust system, but functional if this is the option available. Most of Jenn Air’s models include the downdraft. Sloppy cooks have to be careful not to let food fall down the pipe; cleaning it out will not be as easy as food getting in.

There are some available Jenn Air cooktop accessories for some models. For example, the electric touch control can make heat selection much easier on the electric cooktops. Different grill designs and gridles are great additions for someone who likes the option of something other than boiling and regular cooking. Sealed Jenn Air cartridges are a must for the gas cooktop. Grill covers help maximize your kitchen space when the burners are not in use.

If you are considering buying one of these used, make sure that all your Jenn Air cooktop parts are in superior condition. Buying a cooktop with defective pieces will be most frustrating, and counterproductive. If you find a great deal on a used cooktop, get it serviced so that when you install it in your own kitchen, you can expect premium performance.

If you can afford a slightly more expensive brand, it might be worth your trouble to avoid the problems noted with Jenn Air’s.
