Outdoor Kitchens: Factors to Consider

So you’ve had enough of making the long trek from the kitchen to your outdoor entertainment area every time you have guests?  I don’t blame you.  It’s  a common problem.  The chef is trapped in the kitchen, preparing food for everyone, and having none of the fun.  Fortunately, there is a solution.  Bring the food to the party.  In other words, build a kitchen which is actually in, or next to, the place you usually entertain your guests.  Outdoor kitchens are a great way of not missing out, saving time, and still getting the job done.

Limitations to Outdoor Kitchens
An outdoor kitchen can be handy in a lot of ways.  They are often excellent for keeping cutlery within easy reach of any meal you’re preparing, and sometimes, if you keep a few beers in a fridge you keep outdoors, you may not even have to get up from your deck chair to grab one.

Money Restrictions
Outdoor kitchen designs can be highly customised, depending on the limitations you are facing.  Often your budget is the factor which restricts how fully kitted out your outdoor kitchen plans can be.  This should not be the case though, as usually an outdoor kitchen will add far more value to the value of your property than it costs to install.  This may sound somewhat counter intuitive, but it is true.

When you think about it, you don’t need walls, often installations are quite cheap, you never have to take a day off for the builder to get the job done, and you can effectively advertise the house as having an extra kitchen AND a full outdoor entertaining facility.  Surely that will bump it up price wise.  And you get a great facility to work with in the meantime.

Space Restrictions in Outdoor Kitchen Designs
Space and location shouldn’t really affect your decision too much, as you can make a kitchen fairly compact with many of the latest space saving designs being relatively cheap.

Time Restrictions in Outdoor Kitchen Plans
The only other real restrictions you might have is time.  This is the beautiful part about any outdoor construction.  You don’t need to have to be there to see the builder, electrician, plumber or gas man into your place. Most of the time, they are able to let themselves in and out.  It is ridiculous how easy it can be when you’re building outside the home.
