Brown Childrens Bedroom Furniture To Transform That Pink Nursery

Ten years ago, you had a baby girl.  The nursery was pink, very pink.  Now, you have a little girl with a mind of her own and she has declared that she’s “too old for pink”, but you, like many parents, are on a limited budget and cannot afford to redecorate your child’s room.  Fear not, you can transform your daughter’s princess pink bedroom into a sophisticated retreat, and it’s simpler than you think.  You’ll want to start off with some brown childrens bedroom furniture.

First, you need to decide what you can keep and what needs to change.  This can be challenging when everything is pink, but by changing a few things, and adding some other colors and a dark neutral color, things will change quickly.  If you’re looking at a themed room where everything is Disney Princesses or Dora the Explorer, you may want to consider that to be the things you want to replace.  If everything is just pink, you have a few more options. Likewise, some things may be able to be reused.

Brown is the new black and can take a pink room from princess pink to classy sophistication fast. By bringing in dark woods or painting your children’s bedroom furniture a chocolate brown, the pink becomes less juvenile instantly. Most wood furniture, even when it has been veneered, can be painted with a few cans of spray paint from the local discount superstore.

A solid pink comforter can be changed drastically with some brown colored sheets and pillows added to it. Another option for that pink bedspread is to buy a bottle of fabric dye and throw it in the washing machine with the comforter. The results will be a little more unpredictable, but, by tying the bedspread with rubber bands you could create a tie-dyed look and by using a wax crayon or the end of an old candle, you can create designs that will not take the dye. A throw blanket folded at the foot of the bed will add another layer of sophistication to the room.

For pink walls, you really only have a few options. You can paint them another color, wallpaper them, or paint them with a glaze or faux finish to change their appearance.  Any of these things will alter the appearance of the walls and the whole room drastically.

If you add a brown rug, a big floor mirror and a dressing table, you have created a sophisticated retreat for your little girl that is worthy of any movie star.
