Pre Lit Christmas Trees Make It Easy

Let’s face it. No matter how much you love the holiday season, it is difficult to find time to buy, decorate, and design an entire Christmas tree. Especially if that sort of creativity is far away from your left brain thinking. That doesn’t mean you should sacrifice any holiday spirit, however. Christmas tree sellers are making it easier all the time. The latest solution? Buy pre lit Christmas trees! Pre lit artificial Christmas trees come in variety of sizes, tree styles, and lighting effects. Best of all, artificial trees leave you with no mess to clean up after, or decorations to repack. Choose the tree that will suit your holiday mood best, and cut out the effort!

First thing to decide is what kind of tree you’d like. Among your choices will be Scotch Pine, Noble Fir, Norway Spruce, Fraser Fir, Black spruce, Douglas Fir, and more. If you’re tight on space or like the trim look, consider slim pre lit Christmas trees like a Rockefeller Pine or Adirondack Evergreen. Some trees look more manicured, others more natural. The pine needles might point vertically up, down, or more horizontal. Colors range from deep pine green to frosty white pre lit Christmas trees.

Next, decide how tall your tree should be. Most vendors’ height selection varies according to the tree type. But you should be able to find anything from a 4 ft to 9 ft pre lit Christmas tree, or even taller, fairly easily. Think about your other furniture and decorations, and how prominent you want your tree to be.

The final and most exciting decision is the lighting color. This will really determine the mood of your entire holiday living room. Clear lights are classic, cool, and elegant. Multi colored lights are fun and festive. You can also find remote controlled lights that allow you to choose clear, multicolor, or both at the touch of a button. Large companies like the GE pre lit Christmas tree sale should offer you all the options.

For an outdoor pre lit Christmas tree, you have one more decision to make. Traditional incandescent bulbs are expensive to run. If you had a more budget friendly option in mind, then go for one of those energy efficient, cost saving pre lit LED Christmas trees. LED bulbs are great. The filament doesn’t break or burn out, and their batteries are solar rechargeable. LED’s used to be available only in bright white lights, but now you can find them with warmer glows, as well.

In the home or on its exterior, don’t let your busy schedule get in the way of holiday decorating. You can buy your favorite tree with festive lights entirely hassle free. Plug it in, and voila! Christmas cheer!

Christmas Tree Lights: The Season’s Delights

You have the tree. The decorations are out of the box. But it’s the Christmas tree lights that really bring out the magic of the holiday. And of course, there are so many ways that you could do it. How to light a Christmas tree best is probably one of the most hotly contested topics of the season. With so many options, its hard to decide just what look you want to go with.

Christmas tree candle lights are the most traditional. While real candles can be a bit of a fire hazard, there are battery operated Christmas tree lights that look just like candles. These are a great alternative if you want to have an authentic looking tree. And you won’t have to worry about candles tipping over or dripping wax all over the floor.

If you want a different look, the first thing you should think about is color. White Christmas tree lights are the classic choice, but blue, red, and green are other colors that keep with the holiday spirit. Sticking to one or two colors of Christmas tree light bulbs will produce an elegant effect, but you can also go all out with flashing multicolor lights if that suits your fancy. The choices are endless.

If you are planning on decorating trees in your yard, or in getting a tree that’s just for outdoor display, then you’ll want to make sure to get outdoor Christmas tree lights. LEDs, or light-emitting diodes, are a good option. They are perfect for outdoor use and consume less energy than other lights, so you don’t have to feel guilty about leaving them on the whole night. LED Christmas tree lights are available in every size and shape you can imaging, the most popular being string lights.

Another great option for lighting outdoor trees and bushes is to use solar Christmas tree lights. These will stock up on the daylight in order to provide you with inexpensive light at night.

Once you know what kind of lights you want, the next step is to go out and buy them. You can find Christmas tree lights for sale practically everywhere you turn–on the Internet, in the drugstore, at the mall. Tis the season after all, and taking care of your Christmas tree lighting needs is a cinch once you know what you want.

Well, it’s a cinch until you actually try to light the thing. The challenge of how to put lights on a Christmas tree without loosing the tree, the lights, or your mind is one that every family has to wrestle with this time of year. (Yes, I did mean wrestle!) But that’s part of the holiday cheer, isn’t it? So grad a ladder, a bit of patience, and a lot of perseverance, and a good sense of humor. Once those lights are up you will have a tree that is lit to perfection. Enjoy!

Icicle lights, hands down. Versatile, beautiful, fun, charming…with icicle lights you never get old and it’s impossible to go wrong.

2. Are there other kinds of Christmas rope lights?
You bet! Rope lights can be set up on frames to create lit up Christmas figures and images. Rain deer, elves, Santas, trains, snowmen, and much much more. You can also string rope lights through garlands, fences…wherever a sprinkling (or shower) or lights might look good, give those rope lights a shot. They’re easy to take down, too.

Always With Icicle Lights

It does not take much investigation to know that outdoor icicle lights are the most popular Christmas decoration around. Charming, elegant, enchanting in the wintry season, from year to year, icicle lighting simply doesn’t get old. It does not matter how many neighbors use them, or how old your lights are. Every winter when you set them up, your home transforms into a magical holiday.

Now that December has arrived, it is far past time to take down the Halloween icicle lights. Unless you want to intertwine those orange icicle lights with white and blue icicle lights, orange is for autumn. Blue, white, red, and green are for Christmas. Make the transition. It is amazing what the difference in color can do for Christmas icicle lights.

If you would like to deck your house with a complete icicle light set, you’ll need a number of ropes. Measure the distance for all your porch trimming, window trims, and roof trims. If you have a fence around your front lawn, you may want to use icicle lights there as well. Many people like to drape their bushes or string their trees with white icicle lights, giving an otherworldly appearance of glowing snow. It is fascinating how a single lighting style won’t go old on any home. Even if you choose to stay away from multicolor icicle lights, no one will call you redundant.

You may be wondering how expensive such thorough light decoration will get. Well, you can save a bundle by going for the LED icicle light. LED lighting has made solar lighting compact and inexpensive, so that you can enjoy a light filled Christmas at minimal expense. Most lighting stores will carry white, amber, and blue LED icicle lights. Save money, and still get variety. To add to the excitement, LED bulbs won’t die from year to year. LED’s can last up to a decade. Since the batteries are solar rechargeable, you won’t spend money on those every Christmas season, either.

So, no matter how many neighbors have told you they’re going with the icicle design, don’t shy away. Your home, your lawn, your shrubs…with the right draping and hanging of LED icicle Christmas lights, will look like a different world than anyone else. Want to really top it? Set up a Christmas train or elves to complete the set. Your holiday season will have never been more merry.

The Upside Down Christmas Tree: Is It For You?

It’s the most natural thing to walk down your street this time of year and smile at the children rushing around in the living room, unpacking boxes of lights, ornaments, and candles to decorate their long awaited Christmas tree. For most people, it awakens a feeling of warmth, family, and tradition. It might be a little shocking, however, to see someone setting up an upside down Christmas tree stand and fir. It’s not April Fools. What is this bizarre spin on holiday spirit?

Don’t worry. While upside down Christmas trees look surprising, it seems that they might be the real thing. With some necessary research, it’s been found that upside down Christmas tree history may actually go back further than the right side up ones! When the tradition of a tree was first established, people wanted it to be obvious that the tree was not some trivial floral home décor idea. To make it obvious that the tree held meaning, it had to be a hanging upside down Christmas tree. Of course.

Whether or not you’re into the idea yourself, the fact is that it becoming a fast growing trend. Trends catch pretty quickly. Nearly any tree shop will sell upside down artificial Christmas trees. White upside down Christmas trees, green ones, plastic ones, or real ones. This isn’t a joke. You can call yourself a traditionalist, but if the real tradition is in the upside down…then, where are you?

Obviously, hanging a tree from the ceiling has its benefits and drawbacks. Among the cons are that the upside down Christmas tree’s firs might shed easily and spread around the house quicker. It can also be pretty prickly to hang. If you are set on candles for the tree, they’ll have to go, as well. The pros, however, are pretty weighty as well. With the tree at the ceiling, your floor space is kept available for presents and other things. It’s stylish, makes a statement, and is fun. The upside down artificial Christmas tree takes care of the shedding and the prickly hanging, so the only thing left are your beloved decorations. Well, you can buy a pre decorated upside down Christmas tree if the ornaments are your only complication. Now, really. You have to admit. This isn’t such a bad looking idea after all.

So the next time you see upside down Christmas trees for sale, the shock will fade quicker. It might even grow on you. Perhaps not this year, but next holiday season? Can you imagine your living room with this new, yet very old, traditional tree? I wouldn’t put it past you.

The Best Of Outdoor Christmas Lights

The further away that Halloween gets, the barer your home is bound to looks. Until you begin to hang those outdoor Christmas lights, you’ll feel fairly out of the loop and out of the spirits. The holiday decorations are only brought out for one season a year, but the festive air they create make them well worth every day they hang. So let’s get into our Christmas outdoor lighting. Break out your boxes. Head over to the nearest Walmart. It’s time to deck the house.

For the complete outdoor Christmas light décor, you basically have two (or maybe three) options. Regular plug in lights, and LED solar outdoor Christmas lights. Standard batter operated outdoor Christmas lights are sometimes available as well, but their batteries die so quickly that they’re practical only for things that need very little electricity. Basically, not a good option.

Regular plug ins come with long cords for you to connect your lights to the nearest electric outlet. The lights are often cheaper than LED counterparts, but they cost can come in high on your electric bill. For small strings of lights, like outdoor Christmas rope lights, these might be a good choice. The electric cord is inconspicuous and the energy consumption can be kept to a minimum.

For lights that consume more wattage, however, look into outdoor LED Christmas lights. Solar technology has taken a giant step up with LED bulbs (in place of incandescent bulbs) so that solar lighting can be cheap and compact. LED is the best choice for decorations like animated outdoor Christmas lights, larger bulbs, or even for icicle lights; if you want to carpet your bushes with outdoor Christmas tree lights, LED’s will work well. LED bulbs usually can be found easily for any blue, amber, clear, and white outdoor Christmas lights. LED bulbs can last from 8 to ten years, and their batteries are rechargeable. They recharge every time the sun comes out! Today, they are readily available at most department, home and garden, or hardware stores. You ought to have no problem finding them.

Once you’ve decided the form of electricity for your outdoor Christmas lights decorations, you can move on to enjoying the lights themselves. Figurines, nativity sets, lighting up colorful tree ornaments and decorating the house’s trim with icicles lights… You can happily throw away your pumpkins, hang the wreaths, turn on the carols, and let the festivities begin!

For Your Outdoor Christmas Needs

December 25th is quickly approaching, and you may have begun to feel the merry urgency in the air. With Christmas carols ringing everywhere you go, and the malls having been decorated for weeks already, it is definitely time to break out your outdoor Christmas decorations. Between lights, window decorations, lawn figurines, and the front door wreath, you can create a festive world to set the holiday mood. Your outdoor Christmas décor, from simple to extravagant, will delight you, your family, and your neighborhood all at once.

It’s virtually impossible to do your outdoor Christmas decoration justice without the basic outdoor Christmas lights. Lights come in so many forms that you can hang them anywhere, set them up on nearly anything. Starlight spheres and Moravian stars hang from trees or porch ceilings. Silhouettes and motifs in colorful lights of all heights can be set up anywhere on your front lawn. The essential outdoor Christmas lighting, of course, lies in icicle lights. They’re delicate. They’re enchanting. They can be strung from all your door frames, trees, and bushes. Warm or cool lighting, in multi-color or clear.

The second most important decoration is that pivotal tree. You can decorate it the same way you do your indoor tree, only make sure your ornaments are weather proof! Outdoor Christmas tree lights will make this plain bush come alive, as will little figurines that light up. Outdoor Christmas ornaments are easy to find; don’t be daunted by the idea. Anywhere that sells indoor ornaments should make outdoor versions available as well.

An outdoor Christmas nativity set is a classic.  These decorative replicas of the birth scene will bring anyone back to those cozy childhood holiday memories.Using these outdoor Christmas displays can complete your festive front lawn with something meaningful, and not just decorative. Connect this year’s holiday to centuries of celebration. Nativity sets, known as a crèche, include figures and backgrounds or landscapes made of wood, glass, ceramic, grass, straw, fabric, and plastic stone. Choose a set that will withstand your holiday climate!

A truly fantastic addition to your holiday lawn will be an outdoor Christmas train. Train decorations come in different sizes, but this three dimensional, colorful, lit decoration is true fun for anyone who sets eyes on it. Some designs even make music, as well. Wrapped gifts, elves, even Santa himself make an appearance on the classic Christmas train. It’s pretty hard to resist.

For more outdoor Christmas decorating ideas, take a little surf on the web. See what eBay and Amazon are selling, or check out a few other Christmas decoration sites. Investing in a few lights, rope motifs, and one or two larger pieces will make the outdoor holiday decorations complete.

Do The Christmas Tree Shop Dance

By now, either your children, parents, cousins, or neighbors are bothering you about that yearly tree investment. Where is your tree? How have you not put up your tree yet? It’s basically social blasphemy to not have made a trip to one of your nearest Christmas tree shop locations and purchased the thing already. What would the holiday be without a Christmas tree? In fact, what would your winter be?

Even if you’ve pushed this event off every other year, don’t let it happen now. Every winter can be a time of renewal. Make a resolution to stop procrastinating! Gather the courage, enlist a friend, or the children, or even the neighbor’s kids, to head over to the Christmas tree shop and make that pivotal selection. Once you’ve done it, there’s no question you’ll be thrilled. As will everyone else.

You still feel lost and hesitant? Open up your local newspaper. There have to be dozens of advertisements for various Christmas tree shops and lots with hundreds of trees to choose from. Everyone is trying to out sell the next, so you should be able to find some great deals by now, too. If you even take a stroll down your street, you’re likely to see a Christmas tree shop flyer or two hanging from a lamp post or telephone pole. Small trees, tall trees, broad trees, slim trees, there is one just waiting for you to bring him home. If you wait too long, all the Christmas tree shops within reasonable traveling distance are going to sell out on the good looking trees. Then you’ll really disappointed with what you get. May as well get out there now, while the green is full and fresh.

If you say that you’re lazy and don’t want to make the trip out in the cold, or perhaps you say your car isn’t big enough to carry a tree, or maybe you don’t want to dirty it’s vacuumed interior with holiday festivity trimmings…well, I still have an answer for you. Turn on the computer. If you’re a real couch potato, it’s already on. You can do that Christmas tree shop online deal instead. Make a quick and easy order, let the vendor do the selecting for you, and they’ll even deliver it straight to your door. They may even set it up for you in that sad, bare living room.

I think it’s fairly obvious that there are no excuses anymore. The time has come. Bring that holiday festivity home in a Christmas tree that will make life lasting memories sweet.

Patio Lighting Lights Up The Night

When it gets dark out, it doesn’t mean that the party is over.  Your patio lights will keep the evening going and the guests from leaving.   They’ll light up the night, and add a welcoming atmosphere to the gathering.

Sometimes it’s a large crowd, other times a smaller and more intimate one.  No matter the purpose, wherever you are, you need light.  When you spend your time outdoors, you are not limited to the daylight hours when you have patio lighting.  You can stay outside and party as long as you want, just make sure the neighbors don’t mind the noise.  Patio string lights add a festive atmosphere, and can be put up or taken down at your convenience.  If you have a table with an umbrella, you need not close it when the sun sets because patio umbrella lights add to any occasion. Hanging patio lights is not a complicated process if you know what you’re doing,  If you’re not so sure, don’t take the risk- it’s not worth it.

The way you set up your outdoor patio lighting will make a statement and set the tone for your backyard.  If you like a quieter more serene atmosphere, then choosing softer lighting, and and less patio light will suit you.  If you like things really bright, your outdoor patio lights should be closer together, using strong florescent bulbs inside.   You may  want to consider using yellow colored bulbs, because they do not attract the bugs like the white ones do.  Patio party lights are good for temporary use, but not for long term, so you can hang them up before the party- just don’t forget to take them down when the guests go home.

Solar patio lights are something to consider.  These lights take their energy from the day’s sunlight, and use it to shine at night.   The best part about them is that solar patio lighting costs nothing to run.  All you gotta do is install the solar panel in the place that has optimal sunlight during the day, and you’re good to go all night long.  When you use solars for outdoor patio light, it is not only a benefit to yourself, but also to the environment.

Patio lights are needed for those who spend evenings outside.  When your neighbors see the lights, they’ll come outside and join, because the warm glow means that everyone’s invited- everyone that is, except the mosquitoes.

Antler Chandelier: Bringing Home The Great Outdoors

It’s the type of thing that you gotta love it to buy it.  An antler chandelier defiantly has an original look, and a special appeal to those who go for the rustic look and feel, and choose to decorate their home that way.

Some people just love to be original.  With antler chandeliers, you’ll know that no one will have a chandelier like yours.  Just like no two people are alike, no two antlers are exactly alike, and you can be sure that no one will have a chandelier exactly like the one hanging in your home.  Deer antler chandeliers are a number one choice for those who like to bring a taste of the great outdoors into their home.  It’s like bringing home the camping experience.  Some say that they add elegance to the room.  Definitely not in terms of a more regal sense of the word, but in more of a rustic sort of way.

If you choose a deer antler chandelier, or elk or moose antler chandeliers, be aware that they come in different qualities and strengths.  You would probably want a grade A one, or maybe a grade B, but less then that, it’s probably not worth you while or money.  The stronger ones hold up much better without cracking.  A cast antler chandelier may also be stronger.   Also check out the professionalism of the lighting system, and make sure that it was done by a qualified electrician.  You don’t want it causing you problems.

I personally don’t know if I would like a real elk chandelier hanging in my dining room- or a deer or moose one for that matter.  If you share the same sentiments, but you still like the look, you can opt for a faux antler chandelier.  The professionals will be able to tell the difference, but most people will not notice, unless they look at it up close.  Faux antler chandeliers are also for those who are into animal rights and want to acheive the look without ending lives in the process.  If you shop around, you can get a fake antler chandeliers that really looks like the real thing.

You can get bigger chandeliers for the living room and dining room, or smaller ones for the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms.  You can even buy matching rustic furniture.  If  you’re the outdoors kind of person, then you can bring it inside with you all year long, by redecorating your home in this way.  A great place to start is by installing an antler chandelier.

A Modern Chandelier Makes A Statement

I don’t know about you, but I consider the dining room to be a central point in my house.  That’s where all of the important things happen, holiday dinners, family meetings, birthday parties.  So why not make your dining room look as gorgeous as it could by adding a large modern chandelier. It’s glow and sparkle and eye-catching design will add so much to all of your special family occasions.

Modern chandeliers are the popular choice in household lighting today. You can find one that fits your personality and tastes, making your personal mark in your home‘s design.  Modern crystal chandeliers can be very different than the ones that we grew up with.  It’s like taking the old world beauty and modernizing to today’s fashion.   This combination produces some of the most magnificent pieces, creating a new level of beauty.  Modern glass chandeliers are a display of modern art.  They come in all kinds of shapes and designs, the sky is the limit.  If you look at the different models on the market, you’ll be amazed at the designers’ creativity, and you’re sure to find a piece that you’ll love, and have to take home with you.

Modern chandelier light can come in all colors, reflecting the color of the glass used in the fixture, or the color of the light bulb inserted.  You can even change the bulb’s color according to the tone you want to set in the room.  If you want a more charged atmosphere, you can opt for red or orange bulbs.  If you want something more calm or serene, blue or green will do the trick.  If you don’t want to do colors, the strength of  modern chandelier lighting has a similar effect.  Dimming the light calms things down, brightening them livens things up.

You can enjoy a modern contemporary chandelier without feeling a hole in your wallet.  There are many discount modern chandeliers available, and you can find one that suits you well and that will add a lot to your room.  Online shopping is one easy way to find what you want without exerting too much effort. We all have our own tastes, likes and dislikes, so it’s important that you choose one yourself, and not rely on the opinion of someone else only.

Once you go ahead and get a modern dining room chandelier installed, you’ll see it’s immediate effect on the room, and the rest of your home.  The more unique it is, the more you can count on it being a conversation piece for anyone who comes to visit your home.

The Romance In Candle Wall Sconces

When you’re on the search for romantic room lighting, beyond mere table candles, consider candle wall sconces. Permanently affixed to the wall, sconces are readily available for that intimate, warm lighting at any occasion. They offer a subtle Victorian air, but one that would suit many styles of home décor. Turning out the overhead lights to ignite some delicate candles alters the atmosphere of even the most sterile mod look.  A single candle wall sconce may be used to light a specific area. Perhaps above a mantle, in the bathroom, or in a hallway.

Wrought iron candle wall sconces are the most antique style. Typical wrought iron forms come in vine like carvings, with dark swoops and curves. Even the modern flat wrought iron plates for wide pillar candles have a more serious tone to them. Wrought iron does require décor to support it. An old house, or Victorian style home, or equally sophisticated furniture at the minimum. These sconces are pieces of art in themselves. They might take the place of other wall art in some rooms, or be scattered amongst hanging art pieces. Other antique candle wall sconces are generally designed in metal, and have a distinctly elaborate quality. They all follow the same interior design rules as wrought iron.

Brass candle wall sconces have more of a shine, creating a younger tone. Still quite sophisticated however. Brass should look appropriate in your color scheme; with its own beautiful sheen, you would not want to put brass out of place in a room of stark and sterile colors.

For the room of modern design, consider glass candle wall sconces. Both frosted and clear glass candle holder wall sconces combine the warmth of candlelight with the bright newness of glass. In rooms with high color contrast, chrome, or silver, glass will be perfectly at home. The candlelight also reflects beautifully in glass. The effect may even be reminiscent of chandelier lighting, only not as dramatic. Since glass has to be cut, glass sconces generally have more geometric lines. In comparison to the curves of metal vinework, glass is invariably more sterile. It also takes a little more cleaning maintenance to look its best.

Mirrored candle wall sconces multiply the effect of simple glass. Mirrored designs will suit antique, traditional, and modern decors. The mirror effect is charming under any circumstances. It also provides more illumination, if you’re worried about not being able to see sufficiently. Mirrors may often be in combination with iron or chrome, as well, to further diversify the application of mirrors’ beauty.

As will all lighting, sconces are beyond pure function. Decorative candle wall sconces provide light beautifully…when you only need minimal lighting. And when romance is the mood. For enchanting, intimate lighting, candle sconces are the top choice.

For Quiet, Cool Air: Ceiling Fans With Lights

Air conditioning can cost a fortune. Aside from money, there are those of us who truly prefer the more natural breeze of a fan to the cold air of an AC. Ceiling fans with lights are a great alternative that cover a number of issues with one stylish sweep. Cold AC air is gone. Awkward freestanding fan, eradicated. Elegant lighting? Accomplished, and beautifully. Not only that, but ceiling fans are quieter than air conditioners, offering peaceful and inconspicuously pleasant air flow.

The ease and simplicity of having your air circulation and lighting in a single ceiling fan with light unit is truly enjoyable. Whether you go cheap with PVC fans and bare bulbs, or invest in something higher class like a faux wood and elegant shades for your bulbs, this piece is a real work of home improvement. The multiple bulbs of a ceiling fan with lights is an added convenience; you can inconspicuously leave some bulbs off for dimmer lighting, or turn them all on for full brightness.

Hunter ceiling fans with lights offer a tremendous selection of quiet air circulation in artful design. Hunter Fan helps you choose the perfect style fan based on the location, look, and features that are important to you. Whether you’re looking for outdoor ceiling fans with lights, or one for a kids room, Hunter Fan will assist your purchase from beginning to end. They offer numerous finishes for both fan hardware and blades. Many of their products include remote controls. For low ceilings, they offer low profile ceiling fans with lights, called hugger fans, that won’t intrude on your space or style.

Outdoor designs, like tropical ceiling fans with lights, have a unique form and look to them. Designed for hot and humid climates, tropical fans have wider blades and much more powerful motors, if they are going to move any air. The blades are usually made from materials that complement an outdoor patio or garden; palm fronds, banana leaves, wicker, or carved wood. They are beautiful. When looking at tropical ceilings fans with light, consider the climate you are in. Is it damp, or actually wet? Different fans will be built to survive different elements.

Ceiling fans with lighting are a simple and elegant convenience to introduce to your home. In the kids’ bedrooms, look for simple and fun designs that will let the room’s character come alive. In a grand living room or master bedroom, consider more sophisticated finishes and lighting. Smaller rooms require smaller bladed fans. Lower ceilings need hugger ceiling fans with lights. Shop around for discounts, shop around for the look you like. At the end of the line, summer heat and still air won’t ever both you again.

Foxy Faux Blinds

Blinds and shutters, when built appropriately, are a fantastic way to aesthetically bring privacy, sunlight, and shade to your home. The most elegant and attractive blinds are always made from wood, of course. But wood is expensive. It also means that trees are being cut down. A great alternative is faux blinds. Not nearly as pricey, faux window blinds will save your wallet some serious stress yet still provide you the privacy, style, and sunlight or shade that you desire.

Faux wood blinds are built from man made and wood particle composites. With improved design and technology, faux wooden blinds have even cheaper while improving in looks and quality. In fact, wood faux blinds have an advantage over natural wood. Faux wood will not warp in extreme temperature swings, nor in areas of high moisture. This makes faux blinds ideal for some climates and for all kitchens and bathrooms.

Of course you want to know what they look like, however. Saving money shouldn’t mean that you have to skimp on style. Since faux blinds are man made, you are actually able to find an even broader variety of color shades than most natural wood selections. Technology has assured that quality faux wood will look incredible. From oak to maple to cherry, or faux woods painted white or cream, the truth remains. Only close inspection would tell the difference.

Plantation blinds, blinds that don’t pull together or upwards with a pulley, but rather open completely in panels or fold together on hinges, are a very high class, old style, form of wooden shutters. Faux plantation blinds are a fraction of the natural wood price. They will transform your home into true elegance of the American South. Even custom faux blinds, for those windows of difficult shape and size (circular, arched, or bay style) are available for very reasonable costs.

Bamboo is another popular choice in contemporary style homes. Bamboo brings a lighter, natural warmth than other woods, yet in its quality designs can be fairly pricey. Faux bamboo blinds function beautifully both indoors and out, bringing a faintly Oriental touch to your living areas that will be enjoyed in every room. Colors of bamboo range from greenish into yellow and golden browns, charming accompaniments for every décor.

A last and important benefit to recognize is that cleaning faux blinds can be much easier than cleaning natural wood. Faux blinds usually handle detergents better than wood, as well as being able to stand wetness and moisture. Always consult with your salesperson about the suggested way to clean your blinds. And enjoy!

Outdoor Party Lights Light Up The Night

Outdoor parties are always fun. And most of the fun seems to happen at night. Poolside bashes, garden parties, patio potlucks, there’s plenty of fun to be had outside. But when planning a backyard celebration, don’t forget to think about outdoor party lights.

Outdoor party lighting is important for several reasons. One is safety, a major concern if you have a pool in your yard. But even if there isn’t any water around, most outdoor areas have stepping stones, small bushes, or other possible tripping dangers. In a poorly lit yard, party-goers, particularly children or older family members could easily fall and get hurt, which is definitely something you don’t want happening at a party.

But the other reason, and perhaps more pressing when you are planning a party, is the effect that outdoor party light can have on the ambiance of the evening. Lights can be used to create just about any mood, and in an outdoor atmosphere, the options are endless.

A good starting point is to see where you might want to use string lighting. Outdoor party string lights are available in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. For an elegant look, you can string white Christmas lights around the trunks and branches of trees. Or if you want a more festive and fun theme, you can find party string lights in the shapes of flowers, stars, pineapples, and more.

For an Oriental theme, consider using paper lantern string lights, but those will only work if your party doesn’t get rained on. Even if it doesn’t rain, you should make sure to bring them in when the party is over, so that the early morning dew doesn’t damage them in any way.

But the good thing about most outdoor string lights is that you won’t have to bring them in at night. So as long as there is no paper involved, and that the lights you use are intended for outdoor use, you should be fine leaving them up for quite a while.

Another party lighting favorite is using strobe lights. This is particularly effective if you have a pool, pond, or other body of water nearby. Set up two strobe lights at opposite ends so that they cross each other in the middle, and you will have created an exciting effect.

Have fun when you are planning your outdoor party lighting. After all, that’s what you have in mind for your guests!

Candle Wall Sconces For Eternity

Wall sconce light is delicate and romantic, with an air of old time beauty unmatched by any other lighting source. The wall sconce design is based on hundreds of years before electricity where torches were attached to the walls to illuminate indoors and outdoors. Modern day candle wall sconces are most reminiscent of this effect. Yet even electric wall sconce light creates a beautiful warm and welcoming mood when illuminating those corners for accent and added light.

We know that candlelight creates an unmatched intimacy and warmth in any room. A candle wall sconce means that your candles are up and out of reach, safely secured. Candle wall sconce lighting means effortless installment. You don’t have to rewire electrical circuits to create a romantic effect. Within minutes, you can make soft colors and warm light available at your every whim.

For the pre-Victorian style home, wall candle sconces are a near must in order to maintain the aura of antiquity and romance inherent in the house. An antique wall sconce can be found in designs that range from simple to intricately decorative. Brass and iron are popular metals that retain the style and atmosphere of an old home. Decorative walls sconces come in a tremendous variety. Metals shaped into vines, or cast into large reflective plates, a wall sconce candle holder with mirrors to increase playful light… iron scrolls that hold a single candle or candle holder plaques for a series on the height of your wall. Indoor candlelight is common, but perhaps consider an outdoor wall sconce as well. On the wraparound porch or a wind protected patio, candlelight will perfect that intimate evening. Your sconces don’t have to be expensive either. Even the most decorative designs for multiple candles range from $30 to $100. For a lifetime of candle beauty, that’s not very much.

Where to place them? Framing a loveseat is a perfect idea. On either side of a mantelpiece, or beside pretty windows. Entryways light beautifully with candle sconces. A hallway mirror with candles on either side is a flattering light to welcome guests with. Any doorway, seating area, or reflective glass (window or mirror) will glow under the warmth of a candle sconce.

Most wall sconces are safe to let your candle burn unattended as well. Though not recommended for long periods of time, you don’t have the same concern of house pets knocking over the delicate flames or candles toppling with the jiggle of the table.

Where You Need A Table Lamp

You’ve been seeking additional attractive, quality lighting for your home. Ceiling lights are very general and don’t offer the specificity, welcome, and comfort that table lamps do, nor do they have the personality and character of table lamps. So now you’re here in search of lamps to perfect your home décor.

Strategically placed lamps next to the couch, on a dining table, or at the bedside will alter the entire atmosphere of your room. The convenience for table work, dining and reading light is also a must mention. Whether your table lamp is intended to assist the overhead lighting, or perform solo, the style of lamp must properly accent the rest of your interior design elements.

Vintage and Antique Table Lamps
Vintage and antique styles are easily labeled “beautiful.”  Either the lamp stand or lamp shade tend to boast ornate carvings or castings, built to be an art in themselves. They are well suited to any traditionally decorated room. Muted colors like browns, blacks, navy, creams, are all complemented by the dark metals and woods of old style lamps.

Glass Table Lamps
A style of vintage table lamp that is widely purchased is the Tiffany table lamp. Exquisite colored glass lamp shades, similar to mosaics, top the slim, pretty stands of Tiffany table lamps. In a colorful room, be sure that the shades coordinate with your scheme. In a more muted room, the Tiffany style table lamps take central stage. A glass table lamp can be more simple, as well. Single color glass lamps feel more delicate. Their fragile appearance makes them most attractive on otherwise empty table tops; they need their space to shine properly.

Crystal Table Lamps
Another version on glass lamps, the crystal table lamp actually has a crystal body. These stems are usually slim and always fragile…in actuality and in aura. The light colored lamp bodies look best with white, cream, or black shades. Gold may also be an option. More vividly colored shades, however, distract from the simple beauty of the crystal.

Ceramic Table Lamps
A ceramic table lamp is fun. The ceramic itself has a great character, whether delicately painted or a single glossed color, the lamp bodies feel creative and alive. This means that your lamp is a great accent piece in the daylight, too! Ceramic lamps can be either large or small, for delicate and broad lighting alike. Remember that broad lighting requires whiter lamp shades.

Modern and Contemporary Table Lamps
The contemporary table lamp can take nearly any shape, any height, width, and any shade. From chrome twists with UFO shaped shades to large carved wooden circles with squared off shades, modern table lamps are anywhere from funky to wild. Your living space has to accommodate the style. Think color contrast furniture, metal frames, and bright lighting.

Other Points to Ponder
Decorative and romantic lighting may use lamps with darker shades and dimmer bulbs. Lamps intended to illuminate broader areas need whiter shades and brighter bulbs. Never place a lamp where its bulb will glare in your eyes, sitting or standing. Tall lamps suit short tables, short lamps for tall tables. Place your lamps in safe places.

What’s Bright In Bathroom Light Fixtures

Even in the most functionally designed bathroom, lighting takes a large role in beauty. A dimly lit bathroom often feels grungy. An antique style bathroom furnished with tubular fluorescent lights feels awkward. The better bathroom light fixtures fit to their surroundings, the more we notice how essential they are to the overall bathroom appearance. More importantly, however, is that bathroom and mirror lighting will affect your appearance. The more attractive you, or your guests, feel walking out of that bathroom, the better time will be had by all. People are more likely to smile when they feel attractive, more likely to be friendly, and more likely to enjoy themselves. So what lighting does that, you ask?

Bathroom lighting needs to be bright, but not glaring. Think, both accurate and flattering. Light sources that frame the face eradicate shadows under the chin, forehead, cheeks, and eyes. Consider placing bathroom wall light fixtures, like sconces, on either side of a mirror. If you want lights mounted on mirror glass itself, coordinate with your glass and fixture supplier both. Keep in mind that these fixtures need to look pretty in their reflections, as well!

For your bathroom vanity light fixtures, good face lighting is especially important. Avoid being cheesy, though; Hollywood style bulb strips aren’t necessary. The variety of designs offered by Kichler bathroom light fixtures will give you some better ideas. One example is their special light bars installed above the mirror with additional mini pendants on the side. All around light with simple electrical work.

That’s placement. What about style? Traditional lights are come as brass or bronze bathroom light fixtures, and antique bathroom light fixtures. To single out the ones suited to the bath and vanity, choose light shades whose frosting or color don’t steal the light’s brightness. Rustic designs often have this problem. Contemporary styles are found among the polished or brushed nickel bathroom light fixture designs. These are more metallic and modern looking.

Some helpful light fixture vocabulary:
- Brushed metal (nickel, bronze, brass) has a nice sheen but is not actually shiny. More of a “matte” appearance. Polished means that the metal has been polished to a glistening shine.

- Fluorescent lights have a bluer tint, and are lit without emitting much heat. Incandescent bulbs are warmer, and are lit with emitting heat.

-Utility illumination doesn’t feature interesting design, but are built to last and are less expensive than their lamp counterparts.

Candle Chandelier Dreams Come True

The vintage beauty of a candle chandelier cannot be beat by any modern lighting system.  No one compares a candlelit dinner to silk lamp shades, nor a Jacuzzi framed with tea lights to halogen bulbs.  Similarly, candle chandeliers cannot be rivaled for their enchanting light and antique magnificence.  I didn’t need to tell you this.  What you might not know, however, is how many forms the candle chandelier has taken on.  Lighting designers seized the opportunity to take something already beautiful and personalize it to different style tastes.

Let your mind expand beyond the large luxurious candle chandeliers with dozens of candles and even more dozens of crystal prisms.  The modern chandelier is just as romantic and can create the intimate atmosphere perfect for small company, winter nights with a good book, and an inviting holiday dinner.  The traditional hanging candle chandelier is even competed with exquisite forms of tabletop chandeliers.

The Parisian candle chandelier, where the branches swoop down, out, and then cup upwards again to hold the candle is an elegant choice.  The shabby chic candle chandelier is a sweet takeoff.  A similar shape in the branches, but is generally much smaller, even tabletop size, and makes use of dangling crystals or beads.

A wrought iron candle chandelier is classic.  Wrought iron is usually black, and offers a dramatic and captivating effect with candlelight.  The iron can be welded into any form.   It can hold taper candles, be your perfect votive candle chandelier… or if you finally want to use those decorative pillar candles, an iron pillar candle chandelier may make your evening.

The dancing light of candles is unbeatable.  But if a wax candle chandelier presents a fear of fire hazards that is overriding, or uneven burning is bothersome, look into quality electric forms.  A faux candle chandelier doesn’t actually use wax candles; bulbs are housed in a design imitating a candle, but without the fear of fire hazards or a sudden breeze extinguishing that intimate light.  Almost any candle chandelier you like can be bought in an electric form as well.

Be sure to note that if you look into an outdoor candle chandelier—a brilliant choice for intimate party lighting—to consider all the safety precautions and directions that come with your chandelier.  These are generally smaller and lightweight, easily hung from a lattice overhang.

This is just a taste.  Candle chandeliers will turn the night into a different world.  Explore the possibilities!

The Low Down on Solar and LED Deck Lights

An outdoor deck may be the most desirable spot in your home; for reading, relaxing, dinner guests in the summer time, or full out parties.  For this reason, your deck lighting system has to accommodate a variety of situations.  There are plenty of styles for outdoor deck lights.  String lights, post lights, spot lights, recession lights, freestanding lamps.  You’ll need to think about the function you want your lights to perform and the atmosphere you’d like them to create.  Before this, however, comes the decision: what form of electricity are you going to use?

In most situations, your desired effect will require only low voltage deck lighting.   As such, solar deck lights and LED deck lights are often the decking lights of choice.

A Light-emitting diode is an electronic light source.  An LED light used for a deck light has advantages over typical light sources: lower energy consumption and longer lifetime.  While LEDs are currently more expensive than solar lights, their low energy consumption and longer lifetime can make it well worth the price down the line.  When LEDs eventually die, they do so gradually.  The light dims over time instead of a sudden bulb blackout.  Additionally, LEDs are safe around kids; they don’t emit heat like a normal light would.  LED decking lights also come in a wide variety of colors and give off high quality light; perfect for creating a happening lighting scheme.

Solar decking lights are even more energy efficient than LEDs, and while batteries may need to be changed, their energy source, the sun, is renewable and cannot be depleted. Additional installation of a solar deck light is expensive, but since the main cost is only initial, they turn out less expensive than LEDs.  An important point to remember is that if your deck doesn’t receive a large amount of continued sunlight, solar lighting may not be possible.

Solar deck lighting is not as bright as LED lighting.  LEDs give off a bright light of superior quality great for outdoors and large spaces.  Solar lights are fainter and often have a blue tint. It is possible to use both solar and LED lighting as fit for the different places around your deck; recessed lights can be dimmer than overhead spotlights, for example.  There are varieties of solar LED lights around today as well.  Based on your needs and budgeting, you should be able to find the right lighting system for that beloved outdoor space.

Chandeliers In Your Home

Chandeliers are the classiest way to light a large room.   Historically, only the wealthiest could afford such extravagance.  But today, chandelier lighting can be found in almost any home.  Designers have popularized this fixture far beyond traditional crystal chandeliers.  The bulbs may have covers and shades from any material.  Chandeliers come in all sizes, with numerous bulbs or a tasteful few.

Since chandeliers are ceiling-mounted, the light will always be centered to your space and come from above.  The original candle chandelier (candles mounted on branched ceiling fixture) progressed into a crystal chandelier not only for its beauty.  The array of glass or crystal causes the candlelight to refract, creating a bright yet elegant effect.  Chandelier light is intended to spread across large spaces while remaining delicate.

You no longer have to climb a ladder with a match to ignite that chandelier.   Lighting chandeliers today is done by the flick of a switch.  Choosing your chandelier, however, may be a more involved task.  So many sizes and styles, you’ll want the chandelier best suited to your room.

An antique chandelier style will have a large number of branches, easily into the dozens, and will include a large array of delicate crystal or glass pieces above, beneath, and in between the light bulbs.   The branches can be made of steel, brass, or other sturdy metals.  A brass chandelier is a great choice among the antiques, as brass is neither cool nor warm, and complements well any style or color of furniture.

A more contemporary style will use chandelier shades over the bulbs in place of glass and crystal pieces.  To maintain the effect of reflected light, the shades may also be made of glass.  Otherwise, you can find chandelier lamp shades in textiles, papers, beads, feathers… nearly any material that can be made nonflammable.

The black chandelier is a particular favorite.  A black frame has a sophisticated flair, and black glass beads or crystal drops mingled with the light is quite dramatic.  A chandelier with black slatted paper shades creates similar drama, but has a decidedly more modern look.  A pink chandelier is also unique.  Soft light through pink glass or shades, it is feminine and warm.  If you love the chandelier style, but don’t have a room large enough to accommodate it’s largess, consider a mini chandelier.  They come in all the styles of full size, so you can enjoy a chandelier in any room.

Outdoor Solar Lights Save Money And Help The Environment

In this day and age, people are looking to save money.  With the economy receding more and more each day, one of the biggest concerns on people’s minds is energy costs.  More than ever before, people are turning to free sources of energy.  Perhaps the most abundant source of free energy out there is the sun.  And the power of the sun and it’s money-saving benefits can easily be harnessed by using solar lights.

Solar power has made great leaps and bounds in the past few years, and has become much more commonplace.  Just a few years ago, solar powered lights were a rarity, and were quite expensive.  But today, more and more people are reaping the benefits of solar lighting.

Obviously, solar lighting requires the actual lights to be in the sun, which limits any form of solar lighting to outdoor lighting.  However, outdoor lighting accounts for a large percentage of energy costs, and solar outdoor lighting can make a drastic difference on your electricity bill.

Solar lights can be found today in an abundance of styles, designs, and applications.  You can find solar landscape lights that are just as attractive and sleek as regular outdoor lights. You can even get a hold of solar powered Christmas lights.  Now, these won’t save you a ton on your December electric bill, but every little bit counts!

Solar lights usually need to charge for about 12 hours a day, and then switch on automatically at nightfall via a photosensitive switch.  They use low consumption ultra bright bulbs called LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) for maximum efficiency.  Different models of solar outdoor lights contain different quantities of LEDs, and the more they have the more light they will produce.

LED bulbs will generally last for 8 to 10 years, and the rechargeable solar battery will need replacement approximately every 2 to 3 years.

One of the major benefits of solar powered garden lights is that they don’t need to be plugged in.  One of the biggest challenges in outdoor landscape lighting is trying to route the extension cord from an electrical outlet to the lights themselves.  Even then, the cord needs to be concealed so that it’s both safe and aesthetically pleasing.  But with solar garden lighting, there’s no cord, so they can be placed anywhere with no hassle.

By using solar power lights, you’ll also contribute to a cleaner environment in addition to saving money.  Conventional methods of energy production, such as oil and coal energy, cause pollution and drain the Earth’s natural resources.

The recent economic downturn has been said to be caused in part by our increasing dependency on oil, and much effort and research has gone into improving things like solar and wind power.  Expect solar light and other solar powered items to continue to improve in the coming years.

Many people wonder, do outdoor solar lights really work?

Well, they certainly do work.  However, you need to make sure that you buy from a quality source. The top companies are: Volt, Nightscaping, RAB, Kichler, Highpoint, Focus, Kim Lighting, Hadco, and Westinghouse solar lights.  There have been some complaints about Hampton Bay solar lights.

The second point is that they need to be placed in a well lit are.  If they are placed in the shade they won’t charge, and if they are placed near a shady area it will affect their performance.  People in places that get very overcast by day may find solar garden lights to be an impractical option.
In many cases, the problems that people experience with solar powered lighting are due to improper care.  Solar panels need to be cleaned regularly, so that the dust that accumulates on them won’t block out that precious sunlight.

All sorts of outdoor lighting are available in the solar form.  From industrial solar lights, to solar deck lights, security lights, even solar powered Christmas lights are available.  In short, if you have a lighting need, you can almost certainly find solar lights that will be a perfect fit.

See the Light in Chandelier Shades

Chandelier shades are the swift and simple way to spruce up an existing light fixture and create a an entirely new look for any room.  Chandelier lamp shades come in all shapes and sizes; you can be sure there is a shade for your design style.  Rustic or modern, beaded or fabric: the right lamp shade will determine the type of lighting in your home as well as accent the total décor.

So, where to begin?

You’ll want your chandelier shade to contribute, to the rest of your room.  Think about the colors and styles you’ve already invested; determine what kind of atmosphere you’d like the lighting to create.

Two important things to keep in mind are the maximum allowed wattage for the shades you like, and the way the shade attaches to a fixture.  Certain fixtures are manufactured to accommodate only certain shade types.

A chandelier lampshade can be made from metal, silk, mirrors, linen, feathers, glass, parchment, yarn, paper, beads… More materials than you can imagine have crept into this design form.  You can find full size or mini chandelier shades.  Metal, mirrors, and paper lend a more modern feel.  Fabrics and yarn create something more homey.  Glass, feathers, and beads will all be unique; each design can be a world of different style in chandelier lampshades.

Glass chandelier shades are perhaps the broadest in styles; they are often the shade on multi fixture chandeliers, which are quite classy.  Yet since glass can be blown into so many forms, you’ll find glass lamp shades of all sorts.  Modern, antique, classic; you name it.

Beaded chandelier shades may be made entirely of beads, or they may be fabric shades with beading on them.  Some look quite antique.  Others are very modern.  Beaded shades can decorate a kids bed room, or perfect a retro dining room area.  The biggest draw to beaded shades is their uniqueness in craft and style.  They are unlike other types of shade, and have special character.

Silk chandelier shades are classic.  Silk shades come in many shapes (drum, duponi, bell), and fit almost any style.  Main differences may be more in color than shape.  For example, red chandelier shades in will make quite a different statement than a cream color.  Every shopper can find something classic, simple, and with personality in silk shades.

Lighting can make or break all your interior design efforts. Don’t underestimate the power of your shades!
